I'm Deryn Pittar and This Is My True Author Ghost Story

I didn’t just see one spirit – I saw three at once; enough to convince any sceptic.

It was about ten years ago and I had just had my fifth operation.  My sight was slowly failing with low pressure glaucoma, requiring surgery to constantly reduce the pressure in both of my eyes.

I had nil by mouth from 8 a.m. and had the surgery at 2 p.m. I was looking forward to a drink and was propped up on the hospital bed, in the Recovery Room.  One wall was lined with patients recovering from surgery, moans emitting, drips evident and two nurses busy checking on them.  I was at one end, back to the windows, feeling utterly shattered.  I didn’t know how I could keep on having this surgery; coping with the sore eyes, weeks of recovery and unco-operative eye pressure.
The eye had been operated on under a local anaesthetic, so was not hurting. I had not taken any type of medication, sedative or otherwise. I was stone cold sober but at that moment I reached rock bottom emotionally. I was utterly tired of being brave.

As I sat there, waiting for the Nurse to bring me a cup of tea, I decided I would have to accept going blind gracefully and stop fighting it all the way. I resigned myself to whatever the future held.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw light and turned to my right.  There, standing close beside my bed was the outline of a large human shape – head, shoulders and straight down each side. Across this shape were bars of light about 4 inches wide with each alternative bar having angled slots of soft rainbow lights flashing as they moved across the form.  I knew it was a man. I looked to the other side and there were two other human outlines.  The smaller one I knew to be a child of about 11 and the other taller one, a female form, smaller in width and height than the large male shape on my left.  I looked around the room. No one else seemed to be noticing them. The nurses fussed and continued to walk about.  I looked back at the spirits in awe and they stayed with me for many minutes, before finally fading away.

I knew then that I would never ever be alone. Should I lose my sight and go blind I would always have them with me.

I have been so lucky. I’ve had more surgery since that day, and my sight is holding.  Each operation is hard to cope with but I know that I have three spirits who watch over me. That is why they came that day; to reassure me at my moment of deep despair. To show me I would never be alone no matter what life threw at me. Seeing them gave me comfort and strength and I believe utterly in the existence of spirits because I’ve seen them.

I'm Giselle Renarde and this is my RIDICULOUS True Author Ghost Story

or
How Ghosts Put A Damper On My Love Life

Since last Halloween, we've been resting up here at True Author Ghost Stories, getting ready to provide you with new tales of the paranormal.  Of course, ghosts don't appear on demand (or maybe they do--what do I know?) so these TRUE stories only come up with they come up.

Speaking of which, last night my girlfriend Sweet and I had an encounter I wanted to tell you about.  This story is a little on the "adult" side of things--beware!

If you follow me on twitter, you might have heard me mention that my girlfriend's place of employment has been investigated by the Ghost Hunters team more than once.  She'd kill me if I told you exactly where she works, so let's just say it's a hospitality type place.  On twitter, I also mentioned that I'm a weenie and no way I'd be visiting her at work again, knowing the place was haunted.

It's funny, but Sweet's been working in this place for almost ten years and she's only just starting to tell me about the spooky occurrences she's encountered first-hand.  Mostly, it's noises.  She says that, after working in a place for almost a decade, you get used to the noises of the building settling.  You know what's "normal" and what's... "paranormal"?

Sometimes, when she's closing up at the end of the night and she's absolutely alone in the building, she hears things.  Footsteps.  Creaks.  Movement.

She says she's not afraid.  Not afraid, not exactly, but it does spook her because she gets the sense there's something else right there.  She tells me she once took a staff photo, and there was a weird hazy figure in it.  Last month, she closed up with another girl, and just as they were leaving they both saw a figure moving across the room.

So, yesterday I went to work with my Sweet.  Yes, even after declaring myself a weenie too afraid to set foot in a haunted building.  I was just CRAVING my girlfriend's company.

At the end of the night, after she'd closed up shop and everyone else had gone home, Sweet locked all the doors and gave me that look.  THAT look--you know the one.  Well, she'd got me so hot on the ride up there, shoving her hand down my top as she drove.  At one point, we got each other so turned on we had to pull over and take off some clothes.

We were really, REALLY hot for each other by the end of the night, so she pulled me into a dark corner and kissed me.  Or maybe I kissed her.  I don't know, it was all just a frenzy of sexual activity.  We were pawing at each other, touching and pinching and rubbing.  I couldn't believe it when she pulled down her pants.  We were at work!  But, hell, we were at her work so it's not like I could get fired.  I dropped to my knees and went at her right there.

Suddenly, she stiffened.  I felt it in her body.  She pulled up her pants and fumbled with the zipper, then shifted away from me and into the next room.  I wasn't exactly sure what was happening, even when she came back with a blank sort of look on her face.

I asked, "What's wrong?"

She said.  "Nothing.  Just the ghosts.  We should leave now."

I laughed because I thought she was joking, and I asked again what was up.

"I heard a noise," she said, totally serious.  "Footsteps, creaks. In the other room.  It was the ghosts."

Well, I didn't hear a thing.  I was too caught up in my frenzy of horniness to notice any ghosts, but they sure put a stop to our sex.

Okay, not really, because as soon as we were out driving on those dark country roads, we started unzipping and pawing and playing all over again.  Like teenagers!  Those ghosties my girlfriend hears might have wanted to put an end to our naughtiness, but I guess they only succeeded in driving us away.  We wouldn't stop for the world.

I’m Kiki Howell and this is my True Author Ghost Story

So, with what I write, I’m sure no one will be surprised to learn that I’ve had a few
paranormal experiences during my lifetime. When I saw this blog, question was, what
was I willing to share *winks* Decided to go with one that actually, really scared me.

To set the scene, I was pregnant, on bed-rest mind you, with my first child. We had
just moved into our first house. I was home alone late that night while my husband was
working, he’s a musician and was about an hour’s drive away – get this, playing at what
is supposed to be a haunted bed and breakfast. Anyway, I had fallen asleep with the light
on in the bedroom, a habit of mine when he has late night gigs. I woke up with the feeling
that someone was looking at me, you know the feeling you get when someone is staring
at you that makes you turn toward them.

Only, I just opened my eyes to find what I deem a shadow person at the foot of my bed.
He was just a shadow really, no color at all, but with this one, he was darker, the figure
more solid than most I’ve seen which are usually more smoky in color with no details to
then at all. Him, I felt I could touch. One reason was there was a three-dimensional look
to him, like I could make out some of his features, shading on the face, down his arms
and legs.

He felt menacing, like a person who you know is angry and sad at the same time, the rage
I could almost feel making the air pulse in the room. We had a stare off for I don’t know
how long. But, when I started to try to sit up, wasn’t easy for me at that point, the light
bulb in the fixture over the bed burst. It made a horrible sound like a loud click of a light
switch, sizzled, then I could hear the glass of the bulb break. Everything went dark, but I
instantly knew he was gone. While I had very strict directions of the tiny bit of walking I
was allowed to do at the time, I used one of my allowances to make my way to the living
room, turning on every light as I went, and put myself on the couch until my husband got
home.

Now, the weird part. Know how when you sell a house it’s a law to disclose certain
histories of the house? Well, guess our seller, a private deal, chose not to. Some time later
after my son was born and I had done an energy clearing on the house, a man shows up
at my door one afternoon. Just a salesman, young guy, but I had the door open since it
was spring, so no hiding till he was gone :( After I turn down the steaks he’s selling, he
stays looking into the house, odd look on his face. I ask him if something is wrong, and
he starts rambling on about being friends with the guy that used to live here, he really
wanted to see the place, etc. About this time I had walked to the door like I was being
sympathetic, but really had clicked the lock on the screen. He goes on to tell me in a
rush of words that this friend hung himself in the basement, but I must have known that,
then takes off down the steps and gets into his car leaving me there shaking in my shoes
remembering the shadow man and ready to string up the dude who had sold us the house!

short story called Working Out The Kinks.

Blurb:
Making an appointment with his ex-girlfriend under a fake name, David buys himself one hour to get her attention. Hoping to apologize and remind her of their time together, he intends to do whatever he has to in order to make Meredith, a practicing Wiccan, forgive him for being idiot enough to have listened to those around him and choosing his political
aspirations over love.

Meredith is resistant to let David anywhere near her heart again. Desperate, David plays all his trump cards and suggests a sexual magick ritual which incorporates the BDSM lifestyle he and Meredith used to experiment with. The methods he uses may be unconventional, like sensory deprivation and sensation play intended to build trust and to achieve altered states of consciousness. But David is more than willing to do whatever it takes if he can just get Meredith to agree.

I'm Giselle Renarde, and this is my True Author Ghost Story

I've always wondered if perhaps more hauntings occur in ancient buildings. Toronto isn't a particularly old city, and the various houses and apartments I've lived in throughout my life have all been quite new. For many years, I wondered if that's why I'd never come in contact with any sort of paranormal activity. A little piece of me has always been fascinated by ghost stories and the supernatural, and I've always been a believer, but a believer sorely lacking in experience.

That changed a few months ago when I was housesitting for a friend. She lives in an historic part of the city, in a lovely house with the plaster walls and dark wooden floors characteristic of of Toronto's older homes. It's been beautifully refurbished, and there's nothing scary about it. It's hardly what you'd call a haunted house. And, realistically, it's probably not haunted... but I still can't explain what happened to me one night.

It was late when I went to bed--probably 2 or 3 in the morning. I got all cozy under the covers of the double bed in the guest room and turned off the light on the night table. I fell asleep right away, and I do recall dreaming. Maybe it was all a dream. Probably, it was. That's what I keep telling myself, explaining it away.

I awoke with a start when I felt one of my cats jump up on the bed. A familiar sensation, not an unusual occurrence. And then my brain kicked into gear and I realized...I wasn't in my bed. My cats were back at my apartment. I was housesitting, and there were no cats in this house.

The very moment that thought occurred to me, the sensation beside me on the mattress changed drastically. From the dainty dance of cat paws, it grew into the heavy thud of a human body falling into bed. I felt the mattress sink at my side. I heard the bedsprings squeal just slightly, as though they were under sudden pressure. And I just kept telling myself I was dreaming, I was dreaming, I had to be dreaming because this couldn't possibly be real.

My body froze. I had been sleeping on my side, and I was facing the edge of the mattress, away from this ghostly sensation. I tried to pry my eyelids open, but I just couldn't do it. I tried to roll over, to speak, do anything, but my body was locked in position.

I kept telling myself it was sleep paralysis, a natural phenomenon, an indicator that I'd awoken too quickly and my brain wasn't ready for my body to take action yet. I kept telling myself it was just a dream, and yet I could feel that shape beside me. I could feel its form sinking in the mattress, right there, right behind my back. It was there. Something was there. And I couldn't move.

It was a struggle against sleep, against my own body locked in place, until finally I was able to ask, "C'est qui ça? Qu'est-ce qui arrive?" Who's there? What's happening? My brain hadn't woken up enough to speak English. There was no answer. Nothing but that feeling of sleeping next to another person, sensing their weight in the bed without touching them.

And finally, finally, I drew my eyes open. I was afraid, yes, but I was more afraid of doing nothing. I rolled in the bed, flopped really, barely able to move, still mired in sleep, and... nothing. There was nothing there, nothing beside me. The white linens glowed blue in the moonlight, no indentations, nothing. Still, my ears buzzed and my heart pounded. I'd never in my life been able to feel my heart throbbing in my chest. This was a visceral response to intense fear. I hadn't realized, when I was struggling to open my eyes, how incredibly frightened I was. Now it wouldn't go away.

I flicked the light on and repeated everything I'd already told myself: it was just a dream, it was all in my mind, sleep paralysis, etc. But my heart wouldn't stop pounding. I'd set my cell phone on the night table, and I picked it up and called my girlfriend who was deeply asleep when she answered, but managed to talk me down nonetheless. I knew I couldn't convey in words the extent of my fear that there had been something, an unknown something, in bed with me and I'd felt it lying there, right there at my side... but I think she could hear it in my voice, because she didn't tease me or chastise me for waking her up at 4 in the morning.

Finally, when my heart calmed down a bit, I sank my head down on my pillow and closed my eyes, hoping sleep would take me fast and I wouldn't be awoken by any more strange sensations. And sleep did come, and I was only awoken by sunlight streaming in through the window. But, I tell you, the entire week I spent alone in my friend's old Toronto home, I slept with the lights on.
